We went to Mammoth almost two weeks ago for a long weekend of early skiing (and snowboarding in Vanis case). Lots of fun. Lots of rocks. Lots of ice (I was glad I had two sets of edges to get down in some places). A bit too many scrathes in my awesome K2 Apache Recon skis. They are so much fun. Need to turn? They practically do the work for you. Got a bit too much speed? Don't worry, they are rock solid (unless you hit a pile of stones, of course).
Can't wait to go again...
Sounds like you'll be lucky to have any skis left after that run! Ice.. rocks ahhh, did you fall over? Are you sitting on a round cushion?
