Sourceforge sells out

You are not still using sourceforge, are you? If you have any hopes that they are anything but yet another business giving away a free service, then see this:

sourceforge sells out

Selling Microsoft VisualStudio on the "open source development platform". Nice touch. Click on the image for the original screenshot.

Ah well.. nothing (and no one) is perfect.

I despise ads and marketing but I do understand that running a website is not free.. Considering how little websites actually make from advertising I seriously doubt they do anything but break even....

You are correct. SourceForge.net is funded through advertising. If Microsoft wants to help fund Open Source development by running Visual Studio ads - then good luck to them. You don't have to buy -- but their advertising dollars do keep the good work of SF.net running 24x7...
