Video Codec Shootout

Video Codec Shootout - The QuickTime implementation of MPEG-4 didn't do well at all, to put it mildly. They compressed mpeg2 to indio 5.1 to $test_format, so unless you are pirating DVD movies I'm not sure how valid the test is. The MPEG-4 codec that comes with Compressor is also supposed to be much better. More discussion over at Arstechnica and Los Angeles Final Cut Pro User Group. This posting in particular explains just how flawed the test is.
